Lay Preachers' Association of Tasmania
The Lay Preachers' Association of Tasmania exists to:-
- provide mutual support and encouragement for those exercising the ministry of Lay Preaching in the Uniting Church.
- encourage lay people within the Church to participate in the proclamation of the Gospel and in witnessing to the faith and love of God in Jesus Christ.
- support the continual equipping and nurturing of people in the ministry of Lay Preaching through in-service education and continuing education.
- represent the concerns and interests of Lay Preachers within the life of the Church.
- work in conjunction with the Education for Ministry Commission and the Lay Preachers Committee of the Commission
Membership to the Association is open to:
- accredited and recognised Lay Preachers;
- Lay Preachers in Training;
- Other members of the Uniting Church who appear on preaching plans of Uniting Church congregations.
The Lay Preachers' Association:
- holds an annual conference which is the governing body of the Association it is the normally held in May of each year
- provides regional events to support and help train Lay Preachers and other worship leaders
- contributes to Uniting Tasmania
- contributes to Witness (VicTas Synod LPA Newsletter
