The main role of the Presbytery and Synod staff is to enable congregations to be, "...the primary expression of the Church's life...worshipping, witnessing and serving as fellowships of the Spirit of Christ." (Basis of Union, Para 15(a)).
Introducing our Tasmanian staff:
Michelle Cook, Acting Synod Liaison Minister
represents the Synod in Tasmania and is the point of liaison between the Synod and congregations in Tasmania. In the capacity of Presbytery Minister, Pastoral Care, Carol is responsible for the pastoral care of all ministry workers. Carol also has overall responsibility for the Tasmanian Office.
Michelle Cook, Presbytery Minister - Mission Development
facilitates and encourages effective mission on the part of congregations and church members. She assists congregations to develop and implement mission plans, and resources and supports mission networks across Tasmania. Michelle promotes national and world mission, and is the resource person for the Resource & Development Committee.
Anthea Maynard, Presbytery Minister - Leadership Formation
works 2.5 days a week facilitating opportunities across the ages and generations to experience Christ, grow in faith, and discern God's calling in their lives. Emerging leaders are empowered and equipped through coaching, and mentoring. This role also includes encouraging healthy communities of faith to develop through training and coaching in practical and integrated implementation of safe church policies. Support and training for discipleship, growth and leadership formation is provided to congregations, church councils and faith communities.
Denise Savage, Presbytery Minister - Leadership Formationworks with congregations and ministry workers to equip church leaders with skills for mission and ministry to enable new ways of being church. This includes working with those applying for specified ministries and oversight of continuing education and supervision arrangements and working with lay leaders or those exploring what it means to be in leadership in the church present and future.
Sue Walker, Administration Co-ordinator
Bronwyn Howard, Administration Assistant
have general responsibility for the day to day management of the office, the Presbytery Directory and Uniting Tasmania preparation, maintaining Presbytery records and data and other office duties. Contact Sue or Bronwyn if you have queries on the work of the Uniting Church Tasmanian Office.
Nigel Tapp, Synod Communications Manager
produces stories and articles on the Uniting Church's activities for Crosslight and other external publications as well as undertaking communications work for church agencies. Nigel is available to assist congregations with media material, be it for church publications or the wider community.
Lucia Fitzgerald, (Acting) Synod Property Coordinator
processes property matters and is the first point of call for anything relating to UCA Tasmanian property.
