Uniting is both who we are and the process we are undertaking.
Uniting represents a significant commitment by the Uniting Church to continue its ministry of compassion and care and to strengthen a prophetic call for justice in our time. It builds from the legacy of our 22 founding agencies and the partnerships with church and wider community that these agencies represent.
By embarking on this new path we believe we will be better able to respond to the many changes happening within the community sector, and so ensure the best possible outcomes for the people we support now and into the future.
The move to the single organisation has just started. From 3 October 2016 the members of the Uniting (VicTas) Board serve as the sole members of the Boards of each of the 22 founding agencies, effectively establishing a single Board of Governance. This Board is leading the design and build of the emerging organisation.
Each agency will continue the same quality services, with the same dedicated staff and commitment to care while work to shape the new organisation progresses. The merger is expected to be complete by mid-2017.
Uniting will be one of the largest community service providers operating in Victoria and Tasmania.
