There are many opportunities for volunteering in the Uniting Church.

Many congregations provide services in the community which are staffed by volunteers. To find your local church, go to the box on the home page of this website marked Find a Church.

UnitingCare agencies are always on the lookout for willing volunteers. Please contact the specific UnitingCare agency direct. The agencies are listed here.

Uniting AgeWell

Volunteers are a vital part of Uniting AgeWell. The Uniting AgeWell "army" consists of a strong band of helpers from all ages, areas and walks of life. AgeWell volunteers are used across a variety of skill bases: driving, arts and crafts, music, gardening and administration. Apply to be a volunteer by phoning 03 9251 5219 for Victoria or 03 6208 3208 for Tasmania.

Sammy Stamp

Every Thursday a team of volunteers gathers at the head office of the Uniting Church at 130 Little Collins Street to enjoy each other's company while sorting stamps. There is money in stamps, and this committed group raise funds for small projects through the sale of stamps.

In 2012 $42,616 was raised. Grants were made to many projects including:

  • Mission Liaison Group — towards the transport costs of sending charitable goods overseas ($2,000);
  • Frontier Services towards replacing outdoor furniture at Rocky Ridge Age Care Facility Northern Territory ($3,000);
  • Uniting World  towards training maternal health workers in South Sudan ($2,500); and
  • SHARE  Victorian and NSW Flood Appeal ($2,000)
