Jill was born and bred in the wonderful State of Tasmania and moved to Melbourne to do postgrad study in 1997 - and still hasn't returned "home".
Jill worked for several years in the Philippines with NGO's, and in Australia has been a Community Health & Development worker with newly-arrived migrants, asylum seekers and refugees for the last 15 or so years.
Jill has been working as a Social Justice Officer in the JIM Unit since 2008. Her main areas of work include education, advocacy and campaigning on different areas of social justice such as asylum seekers and refugees; human rights issues in the Philippines; International Mission (our relationships with our partner Churches overseas); and Covenanting and Reconciliation.
On a more personal note Jill is a passionate AFL supporter; an avid herb and vegie gardener; and loves cooking! Jill is married to Rob who also enjoys football but more importantly enjoys eating her home-grown veggies and cooking!
She can be contacted at Jill.Ruzbacky@victas.uca.org.au on 03 9251 5266 or 0417 878 982.
Born in Santiago, Chile, Denisse grew up in New York where she completed a degree in Development Sociology from Cornell University. In Australia she completed a Master's degree in International Development from RMIT University, whilst working with Youth Development Australia's social enterprise project, YouthWorx Productions, a training and employment program for homeless youth.
Trained by the Gamaliel Network in the US, she continued working towards social justice and as a community organiser, linking churches with other organisations such as civil rights groups and trade unions. Her capabilities range from grassroots campaigning to coalition building.
Denisse now lives permanently in Melbourne and identifies herself as an immigrant twice removed.
Robyn has worked as the Unit's Administration and Research Officer since early 2013.
Robyn comes to the Synod having previously worked for the Salvation Army in their work with foster carers and before that as the membership coordinator for the Financial and Consumer Rights Council. In addition she has had a range of paid and volunteer roles in the not-for-profit and community sector (including volunteer work with Wesley Mission, a UnitingCare agency).
Unlike some of her colleagues, Robyn loathes gardening and cooking - but enjoys partaking of their efforts!
Robyn works Mondays - Thursdays inclusive. She can be contacted at Robyn.Hosking@victas.uca.org.au or on 03 9251 5271.
